- His son Samuel Whitsitt of Gibson County,
Indiana wrote to his relatives
in Lafayette County shortly after
the death of his brother, James
Stewart Whitsitt. He states in
that letter that there were eight
brothers and that he was the only
one still living. He also mentions
sister Polly Summers of Lafayette
County.
- The 1810 census of Montgomery County,
Kentucky lists a Rebecca Whitesides
and three children under the age
of ten. In her will, probated
in 1825, she names her three children:
Stewart, Isaac and Polly Summers.
This would indicate that the two
boys were born after 1805. Descendants
of Polly Summers provided Mrs.
Pauline Maciejewski with the names
of John through Polly; however,
I do not know the sources for those names.
- Marriage Notes for JOSEPH WHITSITT and REBECCA STEWART:
- The Clark County, Ky. marriage bond names
James Whiteside (the original form of the Whitsett name) and Rebecca Stewart.
It seems clear, that Joseph was
the husband of Rebecca Stewart.
The name "James" was probably a clerical error.
- Mary Lemasters' maiden name is unknown,
She was married to a Mr. Lemasters
before marrying Joseph Whitsitt.

Missouri; the Bible was apparently physically located in

Montgomery Co., Ky. Allie Philips Whitsitt, the original
